Westside Terrace reaches out to community to help seniors during the holidays

(November 19, 2017) DOTHAN, Alabama – Dothan seniors have something extra to be grateful for this Thanksgiving. For the seventh year, Westside Terrace Healthcare has appealed to the community to help them provide holiday meals for people in need. The skilled nursing home’s Cornucopia of Care food drive has collected canned goods and other non-perishables grocery items so they could distribute about 76 meals to seniors.

“We are so thankful for everyone who donated food, especially our employees and the family members of our residents,” said Westside administrator, Kristie Hughes. “We are fortunate to be in a caring community that believes in helping and we appreciate it so much.”

The managers and staff at the facility packed up food Friday morning at Westside. On Monday morning, they distributed it at area senior centers such as the Midland City Senior Center, homebound people’s homes, and to seniors that live alone.

“This time of the year can be especially tough on seniors who are on a fixed income and may not have family around. We just want to show people in our area that we’re here for them,” Hughes said.
