U.S. News & World Report ranks Westside Terrace as a top nursing home

In a ranking of the more than 15,000 skilled nursing homes, U.S. News & World Report has recognized Dothan’s Westside Terrace Healthcare as one of America’s Best Nursing Homes. Of the 225 Alabama nursing homes ranked for 2017-18, there were only 44 recognized as top performers.

“We are thankful for everything our amazing team of professionals does to ensure we are always at our best,” said Westside Terrace administrator, Kristie Hughes.

The ranking method is based on information supplied by Nursing Home Compare, a program run by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services. Known as CMS, this federal agency establishes and enforces the standards for skilled nursing facilities. Periodically, CMS evaluates the homes in three areas: state-conducted health inspections, nurse staffing and medical quality measures. CMS later determines a star rating for each area.

Each nursing home receives an overall rating of one to five stars and Westside currently has a five-star rating. The publication recognized the 2,005 facilities out of more than 15,000 in the nation that earned an overall rating of four and a half stars and above to qualify with the distinction as a U.S. News Best Nursing Home.
